Stochastic gravitational wave background from cold dark matter halos

چکیده
The current knowledge of cosmological structure formation suggests that Cold Dark Matter (CDM) halos possess a non-spherical density profile, implying that cosmic structures can be potential sources of gravitational waves via power transfer from scalar perturbations to tensor metric modes in the non-linear regime. By means of a previously developed mathematical formalism and a triaxial collapse model, we numerically estimate the stochastic gravitational-wave background generated by CDM halos during the fully non-linear stage of their evolution. Our results suggest that the energy density associated with this background is comparable to that produced by primordial tensor modes at frequencies ν ≈ 10−10Hz if the energy scale of inflation is V 1/4 ≈ 1−2×10 GeV, and that these gravitational waves could give rise to several cosmological effects, including secondary CMB anisotropy and polarization.

A Cosmological Kinetic Theory for the Evolution of Cold Dark Matter Halos with Substructure: Quasi-linear Theory
We present a kinetic theory for the evolution of the phase-space distribution of dark matter particles in galaxy halos in the presence of a cosmological spectrum of fluctuations. This theory introduces a new way to model the formation and evolution of halos, which traditionally have been investigated by analytic gravitational infall models or numerical N-body methods. Unlike the collisionless B...
متن کاملGravitational wave background from neutron star phase transition
We study the generation of a stochastic gravitational wave (GW) background produced by a population of neutron stars (NSs) which go over a hadronquark phase transition in its inner shells. We obtain, for example, that the NS phase transition, in cold dark matter scenarios, could generate a stochastic GW background with a maximum amplitude of hBG ∼ 10, in the frequency band νobs ≃ 20−2000 Hz for...
متن کاملEvidence for Hydro - Gravitational Structure Formation Theory versus Cold - Dark - Matter , Hierarchical - Clustering , and Jeans 1902
Observations are compared to conflicting predictions about self-gravitational structure formation by the hydro-gravitational theory (HGT) of Gibson 19962003 versus cold-dark-matter hierarchical-clustering-cosmology (CDMHCC) and the Jeans 1902 criterion. According to HGT, gravitational structures form immediately after mass-energy equality by plasma fragmentation at 30,000 years when viscous and...
متن کاملConstraints on the Warm Dark Matter Model from Gravitational Lensing
Formation of sub-galactic halos is suppressed in warm dark matter (WDM) model due to thermal motion of WDM particles. This may provide a natural resolution to some puzzles in standard cold dark matter (CDM) theory such as the cusped density profiles of virialized dark halos and the overabundance of low mass satellites. One of the observational tests of the WDM model is to measure the gravitatio...
متن کاملCompound gravitational lensing as a probe of dark matter substructure within galaxy halos
We show how observations of multiply–imaged quasars at high redshift can be used as a probe of dark matter clumps (subhalos with masses < ∼ 10 M⊙) within the virialized extent of more massive lensing halos. A large abundance of such satellites is predicted by numerical simulations of galaxy formation in cold dark matter (CDM) cosmogonies. Small–scale structure within galaxy halos affects the fl...
